Most routers allow you to assign an IP to a MAC address.<div><br></div><div>So everything on the laptop/desktop level works the same (over DHCP) but you tell the router which IP to give to each device.</div><div><br></div>

Basically, I want to make it easy for my partner to use NFS to access<br>
data on my desktop from her laptop. While I know how to get the IP<br>
addresses of both, she does not, so I want to write a bash script<br>
which will mount the NFS partitions, and then perhaps show her how to<br>
ssh to my PC as well using something like:<br>

ssh user@mydesktop.home<br>

I need a few pointers as to which information I should look into as<br>
it's a bit bewildering to begin with and I know you all are pretty<br>
good with networking ;-)<br>
