Pcspecialist is definitely out of my price range. I was hoping for
something in the 200£ - 400£ range.
This is much more promising. The Novatech nPro N1574 looks
like a winner.
To give you an idea of what I'm after, have a look at the price
& specs of Dell's Inspiron 15 laptop.
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-3531-laptop/pd?oc=cn53102
My only misgiving is how to totally & completely remove Windows
8 (no, I don't want to dual boot; I want a linux-only machine.)
Does anyone know how difficult it is to get around the UEFI problem?

Thanks again for your help and brevity is the soul of wit as someone
once said.
Cheers,
