Hi Guys,

I've recently thought about getting a GPS unit and software so that I can have
a geeky map in my car.

Yes, I could by TomTom or similar and probably will end up getting one of
these for my mobile. I would like to run an app on my PDA, but that runs
linux and guess what, no GPS software with UK maps. It's not that I don't
want to pay for it, I'll happily pay the going rate, it just doesn't seem to
exist. The biggest barrier being the maps.

Enter OpenStreetMap[1]. This project aim to, with the hand of GPS logs, the
web satelite imagery and budding part-time cartographers, create open
maps[2].

What about as a Linux User Group we try to get some/all of
Lancaster/Lancashire (with the help of surrounding Lugs?) mapped?

Martyn
