At a wild guess it sounds like you need to check your hard disk cables 
('Media test failure...'), but I'm no expert on hardware, and someone 
else might have a better idea. Does the machine make a beeping sound 
when you turn it on? sometimes you can learn something from the pattern 
of the beeps - e.g. one short, two long might mean a problem with the 
video card (just an example - it varies between machines).
