Rik,

I'm no expert wrt USB hubs, but I have played with two and presently use a
D-Link 4 port wired USB hub to link my laptop to various bits of astronomical
gear. This works well but won't handle webcams which 'stream' video. It does
however handle my astro cameras (Atik 16IC and Atik 314L+) which download
separate images, a motorised filter wheel, and USB to serial adaptor, etc to
drive a telescope mount.

I have no experience with Blue Tooth

The two hubs that I have are:

D-Link 4 port wired USB2 hub type DUB-H4
<http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DUB-H4-High-Speed-4-Port/dp/B00006B7DA>
This works well and is quite cheap (£8)

Belkin 4 port wireless USB2 hub type F5U302eaHUB
<http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5116282/Belkin-Wireless-4-Port-USB-Hub-F5U302ea/Product.html>

Works OK except again for webcams. The claim of 10m wireless range is in my
experience a bit optimistic. I get rather less than this. However, it is a
very neat unit, but expensive (> £75) and uses special drivers which AFAIK
run only under MS Windows.

If anyone is interested, I would be willing to sell this practically
unused/boxed Belkin hub for £30.
