I fixed the issue by flashing another SD card.<br>
<br>
I am investigating if it was just "one of those things" or if having
an SD card, in a card reader, plugged into a USB socket had
something to do with it.<br>

and if your using a hub try and do without - also many
hubs back feed power back through to Pi hich makes them
