<div><br></div><div>Key responsibilities:</div><div> - Administration of physical and virtual Linux servers. Across production, staging and development environments. Currently circa 80 machines.</div><div> - Administration of all network infrastructure.</div>
<div> - Installation and maintenance of physical hardware at 2 datacentre locations.</div><div> - Automate (scripting and configuration management) and document (version control and wiki) as much of your role as humanly possible.</div>
<div> - Evaluate and implement new technology to improve our platform.</div><div> - Work closely with developers to provide architectural guidance, uphold best practices, assist with troubleshooting and ensure that application deployments are carried out with minimal risk.</div>
<div> - Monitoring of service status. Preemptive and reactive resolution of service impacting issues.</div><div> - Collect and analyse data for the purpose of capacity planning and hardware procurement.</div><div> - Liaise with hardware vendors and service suppliers.</div>
<div> - Be responsible for making mature and authoritative decisions.</div><div><br></div><div>Required:</div><div> - 5+ years experience of Debian, Redhat or Gentoo Linux.</div><div> - 5+ years experience in production Internet environments.</div>
<div> - 3+ years multi-homed BGP – preferably OpenBGPd. Will consider suitably qualified (CCNP) candidates with practical experience.</div><div> - Apache, MySQL, Exim and Courier-IMAP – clustering, high availability, tuning.</div>
<div> - Fluency in shell scripting plus one other language, such as Python or Ruby.</div><div> - Comfortable with diving into code. Even languages that you might not be familiar with.</div><div> - Puppet or another SCM utility, such as Chef.</div>
<div> - Subversion VCS or a DVCS, such as Git or Mercurial.</div><div> - Trac or Redmine issue tracking.</div><div> - Virtualisation – VMWare ESXi and one other, such as XenSource or KVM.</div><div> - NetApp – ONTAP, SAN (iSCSI), NAS (NFS), MultiStore.</div>
<div> - Storage – RAID, LVM.</div><div> - Firewalling – OpenBSD PF or large-scale Iptables.</div><div> - Load balancing – PF, Nginx, HAproxy, Varnish.</div><div> - Networking – Ethernet bonding, VLANs, STP.</div><div> - Monitoring – Cacti, Nagios, Zabbix or Zenoss.</div>
<div> - Public Key Infrastructure – OpenSSL, PKCS, x509, two-factor authentication.</div><div> - DNS – ISC BIND or PowerDNS.</div><div> - Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.</div><div><br></div><div>Desired:</div>
<div> - Familiarity with OpenBSD.</div><div> - Previous use of ArchLinux, Linux From Scratch, or a similar barebones distribution.</div><div> - Alignment with and enthusiasm to implement DevOps principles.</div><div> - Understanding of MVC frameworks – Django and CAKE.</div>
<div> - Familiarity with the operation of a RIPE Local Internet Registry.</div><div> - Nginx reverse-proxy.</div><div> - SOAP and REST protocols.</div><div> - ITIL fundamentals.</div><div> - IBM x86 Blade hardware.</div><div>
