Hello Everyone!

I'm a new member in Preston Brook, Runcorn. I have many friends and some relatives in Liverpool.

I'm fairly new to Linux, but I did a bit about two years ago, and got somewhat frustrated with trying to install software, so I gave up.

I have recently installed Mandrake 10.1 . It works well in everything, except I cannot go on the Internet with my wireless card. More of that later.

I have also installed Ubuntu, and find it very attractive and easy to use. There is one problem, though. The Floppy drive refuses to mount. The first CDROM mounts; the second CDROM mounts. The floppy does nothing except display the error "given UDI is not a mountable volume", whatever that means.

It is not a weird floppy type ( the Mandrake install mounts it easily), but it does not run under Ubuntu. Any help?

I found your address from Linux Format

Best Wishes

Anthony
