Hi all

Just to let you know about two events that are coming up soon in Liverpool.

Body Lab

This is an opportunity to find out how real-time physiological data can be used to influence the user interface. Applications are as diverse as mobile apps that gather heart rate data to improve your health (http://new.digifit.com/), games that uses EEG to control gameplay (http://store.neurosky.com/products/invaders-reloaded) and body hacking (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/3ccb11a0-923b-11e0-9e00-00144feab49a.html#axzz1mvgN7BJL).

This day long, hands on workshop will feature a briefing on physiological computing, demonstration of systems that utilise body data and an opportunity to discuss how this can be incorporated in your future projects.

The workshop will run on Wednesday Feb 29, 2012 at Open Labs' office. You can find out more and register here - http://www.ljmu.ac.uk/APS/OpenLabs/121952.htm

Hack for Culture

This weekend hack brings arts& cultural organisations (including the Biennial, Bluecoat, Everyman Playhouse, FACT, Liverpool Philharmonic, Tate Liverpool and Unity Theatre) together with creative designers and technologists to explore and experiment with a wide variety of data sets.

Teams made up of designers and developers and staff from arts organisations will design and prototype innovative products and services that utilise a variety of data sets that answer cultural challenges and propose new ways to work together in the future. Teams will pitch their projects on the Sunday to a specialist panel with a range of prizes provided by the arts organisations above.

This is a two-day event running on Saturday 3rd March 9.30am - 5.30pm& Sunday 4 March starting 10.00am wrapping up around 3.00pm at LJMU's Art and Design Academy. You can find out more and register here - http://www.ljmu.ac.uk/APS/OpenLabs/121920.htm

Hope to see you there
