Summary:

Maintain and support PostgreSQL databases supporting the Live Betting and
Online presence.
Responsibilities:

    • Maintaining and updating systems and toolsets to improve security,
stability, and manageability
    • Tune PostgreSQL to maximize its performance on the given hardware and
disk
    • Identify trouble queries and guide SQL optimisation
    • Assist in production issues with deep understanding of how the
application is utilising PostgreSQL
    • Help design future PostgreSQL architecture
    • Familiarity with PostgreSQL replication technologies (such as Slony-I
or native )
    • Familiarity with PostgreSQL pooling and load-balancing (experience
clustering a plus)
    • Experience with PostgreSQL version 8.3 to 9.2
    • Help set up monitoring for PostgreSQL services
    • Provide response for all system / database issues. This position
includes a rotating on-call schedule responding to critical events and
situations outside normal work hours.
    • Search out and implement new technologies to continually simplify the
environment while improving security, scalability, availability, and
performance.
    • Documenting system components and procedures
    • Document all database system components
    • Monitor database activity and file usage, and ensure necessary
resources are present.
    • Optimise database accessibility by developing load balancing/high
availability architectures and processes to eliminate down time.
    • Implement and support database security regulations, policies, and
guidelines. Monitor security bulletins to obtain information of potential
threats; install necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database
security.
    • Strong Linux skills
    • Database security/encryption experience is preferable
    • Ability to manage time well and meet multiple deadlines in a
sometimes hectic environment
    • Excellent writing and communication skills.

    • Strong evidence of high level technical expertise of working with
PostgreSQL 8.3 to 9.2.
