For those of us who still use the dark ages device called a laptop, and
specifically those after a small form factor one, a bunch of places
online have just reduced one of the Acer Travelmate B113 models to
£149.99. There are other Travelmate B113 models at higher price points.

This is an 11.6" machine.

Good points: slim and portable, nice keyboard, nice clickpad. It has
full connectivity: 3 usb ports, SD card port, gigabit ethernet, VGA,
HDMI - so it's a full featured and potentially useful machine. It is
possible to buy a 6 cell battery for it for about £30 - which should
give it about 7 hours runtime.

Bad: only 2GB of RAM, 320GB hdd and 3 hours on the original battery.
Only USB 2.0 ports.

The processor is a Celeron 1007U, which scores just under 1500 on
PCMark. As a comparison the original Intel Atom's were scoring about
450, and the current quad core generation Atoms for small laptops is at
about 1100-1200. The CPU is last year's architecture (Ivy Bridge) - but
on the plus side, the whole machine should have far less
incompatibilities when installing Linux - as the architecture has been
around for a while.

I thought it might be useful to any members of the list looking for a
(spare) laptop. A quick Google search should reveal the retailers with
the low price.
