I have an idea - but a topic I'd like to hear about, not talk about :-)

I have a little software project I'd like to upload to GitHub for others 
to use - and I've never used GitHub beyond posting a bug or two. Anybody 
willing to give a light hands-on intro about uploading a project, do's, 
don'ts, open source licenses, any other practicalities etc?

Also, anybody else who would be interested in hearing about this?
