I must have missed you by a fraction at the Ropewalks, when Richard and I got there the door was open but the barmaid was kicking everyone out. Didn't see any Luggers there. Good job you sent me a txt or I'd have been lost. The Welkin seems a decent pub but it might be good to try and find something nearer to the venue if we can. I'll have a think. Problem is a lot of the pubs around Bold St are either really small or not suitable. I went to Tabac at the top of Bold St with the Script Frenzy group a couple of weeks ago and it was great. There were about 8 of us. Not exactly a pub but very comfortable and it was quiet, they even had cake and a nice area with a big projector screen. I don't know how they'd feel about 15 geeks turning up but I reckon they'd be fine. As long as you're buying drinks they don't care... unless it's the Ropewalks of course :)

It's only just up the road from LSC and FACT. Just a thought. Might not be suitable I dunno

Dan

On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 9:18 AM, Andrew Williams <andy@tensixtyone.com> wrote:
so far :)

Me, Jo, Andy and Simon all got into the Ropewalks quite early in the evening, we noticed the bar maid was
a little stressed due to drunks but we managed to stay there for a while. At 7:30ish me and Jo wandered
over to check if any stragglers had gone LSC, only to be greeted by another group who were using the
space. At 8pm the Ropewalks turfed us out...

Anyway, we eneded up in the Welkin (Wetherspoons) and stayed there for the rest of the night. We suspect
the Ropewalks has changed to old management and they're shutting at 8pm again as usual.

I'm currently talking with LSC to see what happened to the booking, and I think the Welkin will serve well
as a after meeting pub, unless anyone else has any suggestions.
