I encourage people to go to this if you can. Sadly I'm deep in preparations my trip to America next week and can't :( James is a really entertaining speaker. Very funny, and a nice bloke to boot. What they're doing with Access Space is brilliant. I saw him speak at Open Source City last year. Worth the trip I reckon.

Hope it goes well, and I hope it will be recorded too.

Dan

On Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 2:19 PM, Lucy <lucybridges@gmail.com> wrote:
Tuesday 15th September.

Talk
------
This month's talk will be given by James Wallbank from Access Space Sheffield.

Access Space is the UK’s first free media lab: an open-access learning
community, which combines Free, Open Source Software and locally
recycled computers with the collective intelligence of a skill-sharing
community. The lab is open five days a week for walk-in access and
they host regular workshops and activities.

James will explain the Access Space project and the longer term
objective of encouraging similar projects, with continued
collaboration between them.

Location
----------
The meeting will take place at the usual time, 7pm, at the Lass
O'Gowrie pub on Charles Street in Central Manchester. We will be
located in the Salmon Room upstairs, although there will be people
around a little earlier downstairs(probably sampling the food and
drinks on offer). Just ask at the bar if you can't find us. Their
website[1] has full details of how to get there and the fine selection
of food and drink available. The venue also provides wifi.
