I'm up for this, on either of those Saturdays I think. Just let me know. I have a fairly good working knowledge of the pubs around Dale St, I won't explain how haha. The Beer Keller is alright on Stanley St but more of a night time venue. The Ship & Mitre is pretty good usually and we may be able to make a deal with the landlord to use the upstairs room for monthly Saturday meets.

He let's a couple of folk clubs use it so you never know. Maybe he has an old computer he would be happy for us to revive.

Let me know what the plan is but I'm up for it. I know I've said this a lot but I think going up the hill a little from LSC makes sense for Wednesday drinks. LEAF over the road is lovely and I already attend a lot of events there. It's not cheap as pubs go but it's also not extortionate either. We could probably get some tables reserved for us and I know some of the management pretty well.
I can make any of those dates.
We could certainly start at the Ship and Mitre and work our way up Dale
St. and then toward the centre of town.
I think the best bet for replacing the Welkin would be to start at the
Social Centre and work our way outward - even if we do find the perfect
Saturday venue on Dale Street, it's a bit of a hike from Bold St. We
might have to form another exploratory fact-finding sub-committee for
that one!
Erm, uhm - I don't know about that one. According to the constitution, in order to form another fact-finding sub-committee (of the exploratory kind or otherwise) the application should be submitted in triplicate for approval during an extraordinary session of the LUG's membership, after prior approval by the Chairman and the senior members. Without the correct procedures, our establishment will crumble to bits! Standards must be upheld at all costs!
Hello all,

At the housekeeping meeting, it was decided that we would investigate
venues for a regular, monthly Saturday meeting. (After the absurdities
with management at The Welkin, it seems we need a better venue for the
regular post-talk Wednesday drinks as well.)

So, to get things into gear, is anybody up for a pub crawl this
Saturday, the 24th? Is that too short notice? Would the 30th be
better, or next month?

Does anybody have any suggestions for venues to investigate? I have a
few that come to mind: The Ship and Mitre, The Crown Hotel and The Head
of Steam (only because I haven't been there before).

Bob
