Hello all,
I just wanted to let you guys know about the new NHS Hack Day that I am organising (with help from OpenLabs) in Liverpool on 22/23 Sept at ADA, and try and persuade a few of you to sign up. There's more information, and a link to registration at http://nhshackday.com/ but in brief it is an event where doctors, nurses, developers and designers get together and see if they can come up with ideas and prototypes for software that will improve patient care in the NHS - driven by the needs of patients and those providing care inside the NHS (rather than the current top-down approach).
There was a previous event in London at the end of May, which was pretty successful with 120 people turning up and about a dozen projects being presented at the end - there are a few links to relevant media that it attracted at http://wiki.nhshackday.com/wiki/Media including a Guardian article with a pic of my team ( http://www.guardian.co.uk/healthcare-network/2012/jun/06/nhs-hack-day-apps-patient-hell ) and videos of the presentations ( http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL14C0848345D0B382&feature=view_all ).
Anyway, I thought I'd mention it in case fixing the NHS whilst writing code, or designing apps, or building interesting monitoring prototypes sounded like a fun thing to do on the weekend.
Cheers
Ross
