[Malvern] Visual Basic.

At Phil's shop the other night there was some chat about the merits of 
various languages.   It was suggested that people who firstly learned
BASIC,  and  who later landed jobs as programmers in Visual BASIC
usually wrote crap code.

I found the fdollowing today :

"Visual Basic has the advantage over the othe languages in that it is 
relatively easy to use and to program,  but it suffers when the user needs
to achieve complex programming.  The greatest weakness of VB is that 
variables do not need to be declared  (!)  before they are used.  

Thus variables can be created, but mis-spelled, which  _could_  cause
errors in the program".

Didn;t the Yanks once lose a space probe that way ?
