Like Huw, I discovered Linux around 1997 whilst studying for my PhD in =
Numerical Analysis. In those early days I must say I was put off by the =
installation problems and didn't progress much with it. This was =
compounded by the availability of such things as LaTeX on the Windows =
platform i.e. EmTeX. In saying that, you get free compilers (C++, =
FORTRAN etc.) and once installed worked beautifully (for me).
Have left it on one side for several years now and would like to get =
back into the nitty gritty. Look forward to the next meeting.
