Hi there,

Just to let you know, Greenhouse (by Kwicks lower Bangor) expressed
interest at their meeting today in running an number of Linux desktops
in their communal space.

What Greenhouse has at present:

One Dell / Red hat 7.0 Samba / NFS server
One Compaq P1 / Red Hat 6 NAT gateway and Firewall to a DSL line
A 24 port hub and an 8 port hub linked to it
Two iMacs running Mac OS X
One old Compaq P1 about 100mhz currently running Win 98

Also on the network are three other Macs, two other Windows PCs, a Dell
red hat workstation and a Compaq Red Hat mailserver.

A networked b&w photocopier which works fine with Linux postscript
drivers

I guess two possible options might be:

* Find a high powered server and use a number of old pentiums to use as
thin clients
* Find some old computers and run them as full desktops

Either way, they could demo Mozilla / KDE or Gnome / OpenOffice / Gimp
/ Blender 3D animation tool / PFAEdit font creator/ Amaya W3C's Wysiwyg
html editor

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what hardware might be available?

Thanks

Jim
