In regard to Silverlight support, consider using pipelight. If available in LMDEs repositories you'll be best to use apt to install. I can't give you an exact command due to not knowing but it's the usual drill:

<div>sudo apt update (refresh local repository database)</div>
<div>sudo apt upgrade (upgrade system to latest available versions of packages)</div>
<div>sudo apt install <package-name> (to install available packages)</div>

</div>

<div>Perhaps some choice use of Vim or nano to add an external repository if required.</div>
