To leave "/dev/hd__" (or any) partition unmounted at boot time, change fstab. Add noauto or change auto to noauto. (This comes in the comma separated list, see man.) Don't confuse this parameter with the file system type which can also be auto. Pete Peter Woods LUG Newbie.
