Yes - no other issues at all. 

The Linux machine IP is 192.168.3.11 (and the Windows one is 192.168.3.12); 
the router is at 192.168.3.1.

The Windows machine pings 192.168.100.1; the Linux one returns "Destination 
Host Unreachable".

Wibble. Got it.

For some reason, the mask on the Linux machine's ethernet setup was set to 
255.255.0.0.   Set it to 255.255.255.0 and we're away.
