[Nottingham] cifs mounts error to a Windows machine

Anyone seen this?

In /etc/fstab:

//winpc02/sharefolder /mnt/winpcshare cifs
rw,user=wingroup/ausername%auserpassword,noauto 0 0

And trying:

mount /mnt/winpcshare

gives:

mount error 5 = Input/output error
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

Yet, using instead in /etc/fstab

//the.ip.add.ress/sharefolder /mnt/winpcshare cifs
rw,user=wingroup/ausername%auserpassword,noauto 0 0

and all works fine.

Checking with:

ping winpc02

works fine being as "winpc02" listed in the /etc/hosts file.

Using "mount -v" shows that the ip address for "winpc02" is found ok.

So?

Have I found a bug?

2.6.27.19-server-1mnb

smbstatus -V
Version 3.2.7

Cheers,
Martin
