As I awaited his appearance on the platform, I saw a chap with an ACCU badge who turned out to be the organiser - and who had put up the costs for the first class train ticket and so on for esr to give a talk. Unfortunately Eric had a very important teleconference which apparently took precedence over a talk he agreed to give at first two years ago. This did not go down very well with a large number of people. Eric was due to speak to a large group in Birmingham who turned up and we did have a good meeting without him but he could have been there. Please strongly consider invitations for him to speak at OxLUG or at another group with this information in hand and take note.
