I've got no real issue with companies holding my data, per se. <div><br></div><div>I make a trade with Google with every day - my search history, browsing history, location data, mail contents, etc., etc., in exchange for "free" access to their web services. I don't mind this. I'm hoping that eventually, they'll know me well enough that adverts become useful content instead!<div>
<br></div><div>Conversely, I'm incensed by my company's data policy that allows them to hand over my data at will. Even when any legal restrictions are taken into account, the idea that the company could trade my data to some advantage without my direct, per-instance consent makes me really, really uneasy.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I don't have any problem with DPI if it's to my benefit (and I wouldn't call "keeping your bills low by reselling your data" a benefit), and if I have alternatives if I change my mind later.</div>
