On behalf of the British Computer Society Birmingham Branch I am very 
pleased to invite you to join us on Wednesday 15 October 2008 when Mike 
Sutton, Agile Mentor/Coach, Certified Scrum Master & Practitioner, 
Wizewerx Ltd (http://www.wizewerx.com), will be speaking to us about 
"Agile Software Development: A framework for better software creation"  
at Trophy Suite, Tally Ho Sports & Conference Centre, Pershore Road, 
Birmingham B5 7RN, 18.00 for 18.30.

Advanced booking requested, please contact Peter Crouch, 
pccrouch at bcs.org.uk, by 3rd October 2008 if you intend to be present at 
this event, so we can advise the caterers of the numbers for the 
buffet.  More details are given below.

The meeting is open to both BCS members and non-members so please pass 
on this message to any colleagues or friends who might be interested.  
If you want to socialise and network after the official end of the 
meeting we will be able to use the Tally Ho Lounge Bar, which is open 
till 10:30pm, although there may be some noise from the TV!

The Agile Software movement offers a strong set of principles from which 
effective practices have evolved to help in delivering value through 
better and faster software development.

Mike Sutton will present an overview of agile principles as well as 
methodologies that have enjoyed popular adoption.  This presentation 
will share what agile offers, what it takes and how it works and 
includes some hands-on workshops and opportunity for Q&A.  No 
programming experience required.
