I've tried to use them myself, standards for php were terrible. but then they told me as much before I advertised. I'm actually a little relieved that you guys are finding it hard to reach good candidates in this area, I thought it was just me! I ended up getting someone from Latvia working remotely. Frickin' awesome developer, can't say that work suffers as a result of not working in the same office - worth considering if you do struggle in the midlands
I have to admit that I would concur with this, we did try the previous year and the quality of submissions was appalling, like the fact that we are located in rural Worcestershire and we had people applying from Coventry with no intention of moving and no transport! Thought I’d give it another try as its free, but seem to have had even less luck this time around…
Have you tried contacting local universities? The careers people there usually put ads through to the relevant departments. There must be a few recent or soon-to-be grads looking for jobs...
Where do you guys find works the best for advertising positions?
We have tried quite a lot of job boards but never really got what I
would call a good response. In fact, the job centre always seem to get
the most candidates through the door!
Also, we are thinking our ad copy may not be quite right. At the
moment it is very formal, straight from HR department. We were
thinking of going a bit less formal.

Currently looking for another two developers, fairly junior for 20 - 25.
Cheers,
