Many thanks once again for your efforts over my thorny problems.

This bit of software proved to be very useful and cleared a lot of junk off
my old machine - and it was FREE as well.

Hi Derek,

 

I realised after our meeting today that BCD Edit is only applicable to Vista
and Windows 7, so won't help Reg's Laptop problem.

 

XP relies upon the boot.ini file.

 

The junk file cleaner I mentioned is SYSTEM NINJA and can be downloaded from
