[Rustington] Where is the | key on an Asus zenbook

Hi Jack,

Hold down the ALT key and at the same time enter 124 from numeric keys, then release the ALT key this produces |    (Here is the ALT 124 key version  | ).

  I am trying to use terminal commands on an Asus Zenbook and need the | character. However, but I am unable to find any key that gives me a "|" on the Asus zenbook that I am working on. (It's OK with the keyboard on my desktop, which is why I am able to type it here).
  Has anyone have an idea where I might find it or how I can invoke it?
