[Rustington] UBUNTU 12.04 LTS RELEASE - NVIDIA FIXED

So in desperation I decided to reinstall the system with my usb stick.
Seemed to go well but on reboot got the out of range message on the
screen and no grub menu. Waited to see 1204 arrive by default and
discovered the same problems as the upgrade had. First edited
/etc/default/grub to specify an 800x600 boot screen (including ttys
1-6) and update-grub. Then logout with control-alt-del, reboot to see
grub OK and return with ubuntu 2D to google. Find thread about sick
Nvidia drivers and go to Nvidia to download new version and get
instructions:
- set up tty with root in download dir
- close all graphical apps & logout
- on tty: service lightdm stop
then sh NV....run (the downloaded driver)
The initial script says it has failed - continue anyway.
It builds its kernel interface, installs and asks to set up ready to go
Reboot
Login 3D and run nvidia settings to get screen size&resolution right.
All well Hurray

The new driver should be in the install media soon, but Nvidia do put
Linux 32 and 64 bit drivers on their site along with instructions to
get em in
