[SLUG] winmodems! aargh!

Many thanks to everyone who has provided useful info on winmodems. I have
found that the lucent winmodem drivers support only the mars chipset and
not the Venus chipset of my modem. I tried to force it using "modprobe ltmodem
vendor_id **** device_id ****" but this didn't work either (good tutorial
in Linux format 14 May 2001 if anyone else is trying) I have therefore decided
to put an end to my frustrations and puchased a creative serial modem tonight
from novatech. so hopefuly I should soon be e-mailing from my linux box.
