Thats a very basic use for procmail, but yes. An entire lifetime could
be spent on the possibilities of procmail. Time spent looking for
procmail recipes and example will be we worth it.

Hooks come from emacs and are another thing that make mutt powerfull and
flexible. I've not really started messing with them yet, but knw that
while you can use them to control where your mail ends up. They can be
used for many other things. I'll let others describe exactly how they
work etc. but for now, know that they are set in your .muttrc file and
will allow you to do things like; when you send to a particular address
(this mailing list) you can set a hook to send your mail using a
particular address (the one you subscribed with). :) Use hooks to
control the way mail composed in a particular mailbox are constructed.
i.e. address sent from, .sig file used, char_set used, etc. All these
things are controlled within mutt, unlike procmail which filters mail
before it arrives at your mailboxes.

I hope that helped, and is not too wildly inaccurate.

Toodle pip,

Al
