Sorry to be late on this, but I think two things:

1) obviously we need more than just Stevio as email receiver just in
case anything dramatic happens, I'm happy to be there for that reason

2) there's the vague possibility that someone might contact us with
some paid work, and we should probably have an idea how we might
handle that.

I have heard some resentment in the past of Jamie being the main
contact and "all the enquiries and business going his way" which, from
what Jamie has just said, is clearly not the case. However, it only
takes one email for that to change.

So how could we handle it? We could have trusted parties on the
receiving end of the 'contact us' email who agree to share such
opportunities with the list, leaving everyone to make contact
individually and the person who 'enquired' to sort the wheat from the
chaff.

Do we actually have members who would be able to, would want to, take
on, for instance, Linux support work with a local company? I guess I'm
up for it at a basic level and increasingly up for it as my LPI thing
progresses. Ian, I imagine, would be up for it. Dave W might be once
he finishes his PHd, depending what happens/where he goes. Bob might,
particularly if it's in education. Anyone else?

I'm thinking if we have a reasonable idea of how we might handle such
things we could actually promote it and someone somewhere might make a
little something.

=========================================

Generally speaking I am up for anything, unless it involves utterly butterly
and some country folk. Regarding Linux I will attempt anything (I do at
work!) paid or unpaid, hands on or in the back-ground providing reference.
Just done a Zope/Plone/Python set up for the last couple of weeks and it
cannot get any worse than that!

Strikes me the best way to deal with enquiries (of any kind) is to try and
maintain a single point of contact from within the group. This way anyone
contacting the group who wants advice or work completing will not get
confused or (worse still) conflicting information. The SLUG point of contact
member would then liaise with the group and communicate accordingly with the
interested person.

Ian
