Hi y'all

So I started planning my LPI learning and realised I'm away for a week
in this first month so I thought I'd start this week so I stay on
track. So I'm cheating, I've started early.

First thoughts are

* it takes longer than I wanted it to, but that might be because I'm
learning wider than is necessary I think that will become apparent as
things go on. Also, looking ahead to the bit about PC expansion cards
(4th item in the syllabus), lots of that is a repeat of what's I've
done today, so I'm thinking things will repeat themselves, and also as
we get to know the system things will become more obvious.

* I plan to make no concession to others in my notes, and I propose we
all do that. Our notes are for us. We may swap them, and if others
can't read them or understand them or don't like our style, that's
tough. Our notes and work must support our own learning first. OK, I'm
trying to write neatly, but I'm still doing them as mind-maps.

* So far, precious little information has come from my LPIC1 exam cram
book. I got a load of BIOS stuff from Mueller's Upgrading and
Repairing PCs, and the modem and sound card stuff all came off the
net. The cram book does have one exam question which is relevant to
the first two syllabus items, and I got the answer right, so
something's working.
