It could also be the time that you are using your computer. Linux runs
quite a few jobs in the background at various times through Cron jobs.
For example, the slocate daemon creates a catalogue of all the files
on your computer. This process can be quite resource intensive.

My computer tends to run these jobs early in the morning, but if my
computer isn't switched on at this time, it will run them when I next
log on.
