Sure. I found it hard to justify but there was no other way around it that
I could think of. On the plus side it's very convenient.

Some companies do offer IMAP but obviously you need to pay for that. Some
of the companies that offer these services also have maximum limits on
their accounts (eg: http://www.netweaver.net offer IMAP or POP3 with a 2Gb
maximum space limit for £35 per year this includes 50Gb of PHP/MySQL
enabled webspace also; although I think they have a £20 option now but I
haven't looked at that. There is no admin access to the server however).
