Stupid suggestion maybe but is the sound muted? Try alsamixer. If the
master volume has MM in the bottom of the volume bar it's muted. It will
also say "Item: Master [off]". Pressing M (or is it Space?) will switch
between muted and not muted.

I personally would put these back until you get some sound. Switching the
jumpers may be turning of the sound to the rear outputs.

snd_mixer_oss
snd_pcm
snd_timer
snd                
soundcore
snd_page_alloc
