Surely we want less (visual) user interface. What would XUL provide
that HTML won't, for this market?

Oh, I see: "XULRunner is a Mozilla runtime package that can be used to
bootstrap XUL+XPCOM applications that are as rich as Firefox and
Thunderbird. It will provide mechanisms for installing, upgrading, and
uninstalling these applications."

Hmm. My reaction to that is that we're getting heavily into the user's
machine. But then, the idea of scanning, converting to text, then
converting to speech requires it, so those feelings should correctly
be attributed to the initial project requirement rather than to
XUL(Runner).
