Hi Lucy,

Could I make the suggestion that you use the software manager within YAST
to check that you have the CUPS and gimp-print packages installed (or
Gutenprint as it is now called). It is gimp-print that gives you the
drivers for an Epson C48. I suspect that CUPS may already be installed but
gimp-print may not.

After installing these packages try adding your printer with YAST again.
You should find that the Epson C48 is listed explicitly because it has a
specific driver file namely escp2-c48.ppd.

If this does not work try what Steve has already suggested and use the
CUPS web admin interface by typing http://localhost:631 into your web
browser. However beware that SUSE does not follow the normal CUPS login
defaults. Take a look at this article to resolve:

http://www.cups.org/articles.php?L275

After setting up your printer in CUPS it's always worth trying to do a
test print from within the web admin interface before going any further.
You tend to find that if it doesn't work then nothing else will. On the
other hand if the test print works and nothing else does it proves at the
very least that your printer driver is working.

Good luck!

Regards,
Paul.
