word of mouth advertising. Remarkable!

Out of interest, what are the opinions on non linux users of the EEE. My three children and wife all use linux daily at home. My 7yr old knows more about Ubuntu that he knows about XP. Although I have an emergency Windows partition I find Wine is getting more and more compatible with Windows apps and I'm toying with the idea of deleting the Windows partition and installing Windows on a virtual machine if I ever find myself wanting to use it. Btw the EEE is actually my sons, but I borrow it occasionally! I think I'll get the 8/9" model when it comes out this year.

----- Original Message ----
From: guy baumann <guy@gammarus.co.uk>
To: Scarborough Linux User Group <scarborough@mailman.lug.org.uk>
Sent: Thursday, 31 January, 2008 7:59:49 AM
Subject: Re: [SLUG] Asus eee pc -alternative OS

Hi

Hi

I just acquired an Asus eee pc, and much as I like it, the software is
confusing. There is no proper editor. To find a console at all, I had to go
into a directory called File Manager, but it doesn't seem to work. And they
use these odd windows names like 'My Documents', which I find silly.

The main problem is that I can't find any way to put another OS on it. I have
a live Puppy flash drive, which works with my desktop, but does not work with
the eee. Does any one know any way round this?

Bob
