[sclug] ADSL in Hungerford

Why not go for 24/7 ISDN?  Still pretty quick (lower contention than ADSL),
and pretty cheap:

?75 setup +  

?25 (bt rental) + ?13 (free serve 24/7) per month, and there are no call
charges for dialing into freeserve.

I have setup a few IPCOP (www.ipcop.org) firewalls this way and it works
very well.

The connection drops every two hours, but the connection can be
re-configured to automatically redial.

I have a couple of customers in Hungerford, and they can't get ADSL. The
exchange I am told is very small!! Sometimes during the day they can't even
make phone calls!!

I did the same when I bought my house!! I had to have continuous Internet
connectivity!

I don't know about satellite, we had to go leased line in Hungerford!
