It really didn't work out for me because we were being asked to solve
problems that seem a natural fit for a procedural language (e.g. hill
climbing, genetic algorithms). At least when we were learning Miranda, it
was tied in with lots of list processing and recursion, where it makes
obvious sense.

IMHO, in a way, FORTH could be considered an object-oriented language. I
kinda liked it, but it could have done with a more powerful standard library
(a la C) including better functions to deal with strings.
