I did LPI a couple of years ago:

...and got into endless debate with colleagues regarding whether or not 
it is a ``proper'' qualification[1] but found it excellent.

Three good reasons to choose LPI:

- - It is an `open-source' certification procedure ( read the website ).
- - It only costs USD100 to do it.
- - There is an *excellent* O'Reilly reference:

...seriously, that is a really good book.

[1] No, I don't reckon it is a ``proper'' qualification either but I 
*do* think that it demonstrates an interest in the field and individual 
commitment - which should be valuable to a potential employer.
