If it works for Wireless and not for Wired then check for things that aren't common between the Wireless and Wired connections.

It could be a Auto-negotiation/MTU/cable problem based on your wired network between your PC and whatever part of the network it shares in common with the wireless network.
Other things to try:
1) Can you stuff other data (HTTP/FTP/etc) through your wired network at near line speeds or does it run very slowly/choke? High data rate would indicate that your wired link was OK. Low data rate would indicate problems.

2) What is the output of 'ifconfig', especially the errors.

3) Unplug your network cable and plug it back in. The driver normally moans and tells you what it's rate is.
eg:
e1000: eth0 NIC Link is Down
e1000: eth0 NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex

If your plugged into a hub it will be Half Duplex. A modern switch/wireless router should be Full Duplex.

4) Is the cable in good condition. We had an instance at work where a raised floor leg rested on a cable and gave high error rates when someone sat at the desk on that part of the floor. This resulted in similar problem to what you are seeing.
