I have not used the Ubuntu Remix which is intended for ultraportables, 
nor the eee specific offering with ubuntu I think, I just used the 
vanilla Ubuntu. I wanted simplicity in its management and in my life 
too (!). The original installation (based on zandros) boots fast if I 
want that speed.
