Following this week's meeting I'd just like to say thanks to everyone 
who waded in on my communications issue I was working on. I eventually 
got the virtual machine running at midnight and was able to record a log 
of successful comms. As a result I can confirm that the issue doesn't 
appear to be caused by a windows update as far as I can see but the only 
entries that seem to be relevant are TLSv1.

I did see mention of some windows updates affecting this so I 
uninstalled them but no change so the investigation continues.
