<P>yea, running a dedicated server's fine, u need min spec for most games, but
256 min ram would be advasable as serving is always memory
intensive<BR><BR>i've got tribes if anyones intrested, absolutly no copywrite
protection, network or otherwise, <BR>and it'll run thru wine if someones
knows what they're doing :$<BR>great game, if you want summat thats more than
a run a shoot escapade its a bit more challenging than UT<BR><BR>or u could
get hold of Americas Army (<A
href="http://www.americasarmy.com">www.americasarmy.com</A> -ignore the
site, u can still get it free), another great game, need a reasonable system
to run that (Pros'800Ram'128Video'32 min), but on the plus side is linux
native<BR><BR>can you tell i dont like paying for things?</P></DIV>

been meaning to get one together since moving in:-) There are 19
<DIV></DIV>ports free on my switch at last count, and about 70m of cat5 for
leads, so
<DIV></DIV>could probably support more network users than can physically get
in the
<DIV></DIV>flat!
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>Was actually trying to buy a copy of Unreal Tournament for my PC
today;
<DIV></DIV>tried 3 shops + all sold out! In the longer term, I will probably
get a
<DIV></DIV>reasonably fast box + run a couple of multiplayer games on a
dedicated
<DIV></DIV>server on my ADSL.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>Can you get away with a slower box, less good graphics card etc if
a
<DIV></DIV>machine is used as a "Pure Server" (there seem to be quite a few
popular
<DIV></DIV>games that support this) as opposed to the kit needed for decent
gameplay?
