[Sussex] What scanners, etc

On the digital camera front I'd advise going for anything that presents
itself as a filesystem via USB - my Olympus Camedia digicam does this and
it's a joy to use - Under Suse 8.x, Red Hat 8.0 and the like it is literally
plug-and-play.  

As far as scanners are concerned:

... is your best place to start.  If it has good support under SANE that
will help a lot ;).
