try apt-cache search <blih> and grep the output is there is too much (or pipe 
into less/more). Also, I don't know if it's in Woody (I think it is), have a 
look at aptitude - it's what dselect should have been! The only thing I 
needed help with is that '/' is search and '\' is search on the same string 
as before, but there is a help menu. And a built-in mine-sweeper game!
