webDAV being an open standard you're sorted (obviously server side
Apache has the goods).  Eclipse and Emacs to my knowledge both have
webDAV tools (a plugin for eclipse and more than one mode is available
for Emacs).

emerge dev-util/eclipse-ftp-webdav-bin

or google for eldav for Emacs.

More than that .. there is davfs2 - which is a webDAV filesystem driver
for linux.
